Today is home day for most of us. John  and Chris are heading back to Indy. . .   Ben and Dave are heading to Pike Lake . . . Mike is heading to Holland   . . . Ohio  . . . Pete, Jimmy, Nick and Bruce heading home.

The temp at 7 AM is 60 degrees going to low 70s in Mackinaw City. Plan is to get to somewhere around Harbor Springs. . its only 160 miles but the rain will slow us down today.

6 AM Ashland Wisconsin . .  47 going up to 75 degrees today . .  going to be NICE . .  

The plan today is to ride East back into Michigan. We will shoot for Marquette but at our pace it's anyone's guess where we end up.

2016 Great Lakes Road Trip

The PLAN

ACTUAL from GPS

This is the initial plan. First we will cross into Canada and have a BBQ on the North Shore of Lake Erie hosted by Bruce Milkins. We will then head north to Tobermory taking the Ferry to Baymouth, ON where we will head West to Sault St Marie where we will pick up John and Chris who are coming up from Indianapolis. Then on to Thunder Bay and then SouthWest to Duluth in the good ole USA. We will then head East stopping at Copper Harbor or Marquette. Then South to the Mackinaw bridge where we will head to the Western Michigan shoreline to somwhere around Ludington or Kalamazoo. From there John and Chris will head back to Indy and the rest of us will make a bee line to back to Monroe and NW Ohio.

Day 1 The ride to Lakewood Beach, Ontario

The weather is . . .

The plan today is for most of us to meet at Nick's place around 3. We will then head on over to the bank where we will rev our engines and honk our horns until Pete comes out and is ready to ride. We'll head up 75 and met up with Bruce somewhere around Grosse Ile and head on over to the Ambassador Bridge. If we all get across without incident we will head on over to Bruce's place for an old fashion' hoe down and barbeeQ. If we don't all get across we will have to tally to see how much bail money we can come up with.

Ded at the bridge at 5:30 with no issues crossing into Canada. Took over an hour to get trough all the traffic. Arrived at Bruce's place at 6:15 and had the grill cooking burgers and brats by 7:30.

Tomorrow we head North to Tobermory on the shores of the Georgian Bay where we will pick up the Ferry to BayMouth, Ontario.

Day 2 Tobermory or Bust . . .

The weather is  perfect  . ..

Left the cotrage at 730 am. Stopped for breakfast in Amhertberg. Good breakfast. CHEAP.  By 9am we were headed North to Tobermory.  . . Made some navigational adjustments and we were on our way.

2oclock and its time for lunch . .  still have 135 miles to go. Weather still perfect. ETA 5 ish. . .

Arrived 6 pm. Safe and sound. Simple rooms but on the water with a beach.

323 miles today . .  About 45 more than what the map says, but then the map doesnt include the "creative" routes.

Breakfast in Amhersberg 

No Internet . . . No Cell service . . .  Let's see if we can make this thing work . . .
